Website redesign and modernization

Pricing: from 500,000 ₸

A website redesign is more than a new look. In most cases, along with the design you need to rework the structure, speed up loading, build a proper mobile version and move the site to a content management system that is easy to work with. Studio Nomad redesigns and modernizes company websites in Almaty and across Kazakhstan — from refreshing the interface to a complete move to new code.

The main risk of any redesign is losing the rankings you have built up in Google and Yandex. That is why we start with an audit, keep page addresses or set up 301 redirects from old URLs to new ones, carry over meta tags and monitor indexing after launch.

A redesign costs from 500,000 ₸. We write our own code without templates, work under a contract and provide a 24-month warranty with free technical support. You can pay in parts: installments with no banks and no markup.

Website redesign and modernization

When it is time for a redesign

A website does not age by the calendar — it ages when it stops helping the business. These are the signs that tell us cosmetic fixes are no longer enough:

  • It is awkward on a smartphone. Small text, buttons that are hard to tap, tables running off the screen — while most inquiries today come from mobile devices.
  • It loads slowly. Heavy images, outdated scripts, slow hosting. Visitors leave before the page loads, and search engines take speed into account in rankings.
  • The design no longer fits the company. The brand has evolved, there are new products, yet the site looks the same as five years ago and inspires less trust than competitors' sites.
  • Content is hard to update. Changing a price or adding news means writing to a developer, and the CMS itself has not been updated for years and is vulnerable.
  • The structure cannot cope with growth. New services and sections have been bolted on, the menu has sprawled, and key pages are impossible to find.
  • There is no Kazakh or English version, and adding one on the current platform is difficult.
  • You cannot connect the integrations you need: CRM, online payments, 1C, Kaspi, a customer account.
  • There is traffic but few leads. People visit but cannot find the button, the form is inconvenient and the path to a request is too long.

A good redesign solves several problems at once: the site inspires trust again, loads faster, is easier for your team to update and turns more visitors into inquiries. It also gives you a technical foundation on which new sections and integrations can be added later without rebuilding the whole site.

The opposite also happens: the site looks fine and is easy to use, but it simply does not show up in search. Then what you need is not a redesign but SEO promotion — and we will tell you so directly.

If two or three of these apply, it makes sense to start with a website audit: it shows what can be fixed in place and where a full redesign is needed.

Types of redesign

Clients mean very different things by "redesign". We usually suggest one of three options, depending on the state of the site and your goals.

Visual redesign

A new page design on your current platform: refreshed colors, typography, imagery and a responsive layout. This works if the platform is modern and the structure is sound, and the site has simply aged visually.

UX redesign

We rebuild the structure and navigation, shorten the path to a request, rewrite forms and add clear calls to action. We start with analytics: where visitors drop off and which pages bring customers. This works if the site gets traffic but converts poorly.

Full modernization

The site is rebuilt on a modern stack — Laravel and Nuxt — with a custom admin panel, while content and SEO settings are carried over from the old version. This is the option for sites on outdated CMSs, unsupported in-house engines or website builders that cannot handle the integrations you need. In effect, it is a new corporate website with a careful migration.

Technical redesign

The design stays the same, but the internals change: we speed up loading, optimize images, update libraries, move the site to a new CMS or hosting, and set up HTTPS and backups. This works if you like how the site looks but it is slow, unstable or insecure.

Online store redesign

Here mistakes cost more: product pages and categories often bring most of the search traffic, and customers are used to their accounts. So we keep the catalog structure and product URLs or set up a redirect for each of them, migrate order and customer history, and keep the 1C exchange and payment acceptance working.

To be honest: if the old site runs on a website builder or an engine nobody maintains, "redrawing" it is usually more expensive and slower than building it anew. We will show this at the audit stage with numbers, not just words.

How to keep your rankings during a redesign

Search engines rank specific page addresses. If old URLs return 404 errors after launch and titles and copy disappear, the traffic you have built up can drop. That is why SEO migration is a separate stage of our work, not an item at the end.

  1. Inventory. We export every page of the old site and check in Google Search Console and Yandex Webmaster which of them get impressions and traffic.
  2. Redirect map. For each old address we define a new one and set up a permanent 301 redirect — no chains, and no dumping everything onto the homepage.
  3. SEO data transfer. Titles, descriptions, H1 headings, copy, image alt text, canonical URLs and, for multilingual sites, hreflang.
  4. Closed staging server. The new version is built on a separate server closed to indexing, so search engines do not see a duplicate.
  5. Launch checks. We update sitemap.xml and robots.txt, check redirects and broken links and request a recrawl.
  6. Monitoring. During the first weeks after launch we watch indexing and errors in Search Console and Webmaster and fix issues quickly.

We also look at what search engines assess site-wide: loading speed and Core Web Vitals, mobile usability, and the absence of duplicates and technical errors. The new version should not just look better — it should be technically better than the old one. Then the redesign works for your SEO, not against it.

This is what we did for Risk Expert: after filling the new site with content we carried out SEO optimization and set up 301 redirects from every address of the old site to the new one. Nobody can guarantee rankings — they depend on search engines and competitors too. But these steps remove the main technical reasons why sites lose traffic after a move.

Examples from our portfolio

Abai Kazakh National Pedagogical University. The goal was to refresh the university's online presence and give applicants, students, faculty and partners a convenient platform. We delivered a custom design, a new information structure (university, education, research, international cooperation, applicants, students and alumni), versions in at least Russian, Kazakh and English, an admin panel for updating news and programs in-house, SEO optimization and integration with external systems such as Univer. Timeline: 80 working days.

Risk Expert. We built this insurance company website from scratch: the corporate section is fully managed from the admin panel, and each type of insurance has its own calculator or request form. After content population we carried out SEO optimization and set up 301 redirects from every address of the old site. In a second stage we added a customer account, online policy sales and document workflow automation — a good example of a redesign becoming the foundation for new functionality.

A redesign is a good moment to add what was missing: Kazakh and English versions, a customer account, online payments via Kaspi or bank acquiring, sending leads to a CRM, calculators and forms with file uploads. All of this is easier to build into a new architecture from the start than to retrofit into old code.

You can see more modern corporate websites we have built in the ETU, BCC Invest and Centras Insurance case studies.

Redesign stages and timeline

  1. Audit. Technical condition, speed, indexing, analytics, the customer's path to a request. We note what works and what must be kept.
  2. Structure and prototype. A new sitemap and prototypes of key pages. At this point we also decide which addresses stay and which change.
  3. Design. Desktop and mobile mockups in your brand style, approved with you.
  4. Development. Front end, admin panel and integrations — on a closed staging server.
  5. Content transfer and SEO migration. Copy, images, documents, meta tags, 301 redirects.
  6. Testing and launch. We check forms, speed and redirects, then switch the domain to the new version.
  7. Support. Indexing monitoring and 24 months of technical support.

The timeline depends on the size of the site and the depth of changes. As a guide, the ETU and DASM corporate websites in our portfolio took 40 working days each, BCC Invest took 50, and the KazNPU website took 80 working days. We give an exact timeline after the audit and fix it in the contract. While we work, your old site keeps running as usual.

At the start we will need access to your current site, hosting and domain, Google Search Console, Yandex Webmaster and analytics, plus your brand book if you have one. The sooner we have access to the statistics, the more precisely we can see which pages bring traffic and what must not be lost.

How much a website redesign costs

A website redesign costs from 500,000 ₸ — the same as a corporate website, because the scope is comparable: audit, design, front end, admin panel, content transfer and SEO migration. The price depends on:

  • the number of pages and unique templates;
  • how much content needs to be moved or rewritten;
  • language versions — Russian, Kazakh, English;
  • functionality to keep or add: calculators, customer accounts, catalog, filters;
  • integrations: CRM, 1C, online payments — see Kaspi and 1C integration.

The redesign price includes an audit of the current site, prototypes and design, a responsive front end, a custom CMS, content transfer, a 301 redirect map, meta tag migration, analytics and goal setup, sitemap.xml and robots.txt, and training your team to use the admin panel.

If you only need an audit before deciding, it starts from 50,000 ₸ — see SEO website audit. If you are broadly happy with the site and need regular edits, updates and security checks, technical support is the better fit. A redesign of an online store with a catalog, cart and integrations is priced as an online store — from 900,000 ₸.

You can pay in parts: installments with no banks and no markup, up to 12 months depending on the project. For a preliminary estimate, visit the order a website page.

Yes. The new version is built on a closed staging server, and the switch happens only on launch day.

Do you redesign online stores?

Yes, keeping the catalog, orders and integrations with 1C, Kaspi and payment systems. Such projects are priced as an online store — from 900,000 ₸.

Can we pay for the redesign in installments?
